The first goal of the School is to give young scientists (PhD,
Post-docs,...) working in the field of palaeoclimate and
palaeoenvironment an overview of the real world of
quantitative palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental studies. An
overview of a hierarchy of climate models will also be
provided.
The major focus concerning palaeoclimate data will be to explore which
methods are appropriate to infer quantitative data from proxies and to
learn about uncertainties of these proxies. This goal will be realized
through a series of lectures arranged in three sessions: a
Palaeoceanographic Session, a Palaeocontinental Session and a
Glaciology Session. The lectures in the fourth . Modelling Session
. will concern models of different scale and complexity. Each session
will be concluded with Round Table - a discussion open to
lecturers and students.
